Vania Fong Following a successful world tour in 2022, indie rock band SE SO NEON is slated to return to the road for another world tour, visiting North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific later this year. Many of their shows have already sold out, and due to popular demand, they’ve added additional shows in New York, Chicago, Texas, and Amsterdam for a total of 32 shows over four months.
Formed in 2016, the trio consists of Hwang Soyoon (lead singer and guitarist), Park Hyunjin (bass guitarist), and U-Su (drums). At times, the band’s sound is expansive and dreamlike, buoyed by Soyoon’s emotive, airy voice, but they are just as capable of creating funky and grungy tracks. They were awarded “Rookie of the Year” in 2018, and their album Nonadaptation was named one of the Top 35 Rock Albums in 2020 by Pitchfork. Their songs speak to “one’s journey of living,” exploring existential dread, societal expectations, freedom, and everything in between.
