The Unforgettable Gala Gears Up for Their 20th Year

Returning for their big 20-year anniversary, Character Media’s Unforgettable Gala will be taking place on Saturday, December 17th, at the Beverly Hilton. With a different theme for each year’s festivities, the 2022 event will feature the theme “Illuminate.”

While last year’s theme was “RISE,” which focused on Asian American communities coming together and rising to the against the influx of anti-Asian hate crimes during and partially due to the global pandemic, this year’s theme is meant to shine a light on the community and future generations. With representation on the rise now more than ever, and this year’s gala celebrating a milestone year, “Illuminate” will celebrate the brightest stars of the Asian American community, particularly those who have lit the way for the next generation.

Although this year’s award recipients and attendees have not been announced yet, hip hop icon Apl.de.Ap of Black Eyed Peas has been confirmed to attend and perform at the event. The performance will highlight the artist’s Filipino culture, and was announced in October, which also happens to be Filipino American History Month. Past galas have brought together countless Asian and Asian American actors, directors, writers, musicians, athletes, and more.
