Gifted with the ability to conjure emotional soundscapes that transport listeners into a fantasy world, Japanese singer, songwriter, and guitarist Ichiko Aoba is sharing her music on a 2022 world tour that will take her across 26 venues in Europe, Canada, and the U.S. The tour began in August and will run through October, and it will be the singer’s first visit to the States.
Aoba compares her process to creating a landscape painting, blending elements from folk, jazz, and classical influences into wondrous, meditative soundscapes. Her latest album, Windswept Adan, was written as a soundtrack for an imaginary movie and features ethereal instrumentation and her own hauntingly sweet vocals. In addition to having released several full-length albums, Aoba has also composed and recorded music for movies, stage productions, and video games–most prominently The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
