Three years since the last in-person KCON LA, the three-day event will return with a slew of fan events and an exciting list of seventeen K-pop artists. KCON 2022 first came back with its premiere in Chicago, where fans had the opportunity to participate in interactive events, such as a hi-touch experience with their favorite K-pop group. Given COVID-19 protocols, K-pop groups have held back on direct fan interaction because of overall safety concerns for both the performers and attendees.
However, KCON LA is set to bring back programs such as MEET&GREET and KCON Rookies, which started in 2019 to replace Club KCON. During KCON Rookies, select groups will perform a small set of songs in the Los Angeles Convention Center before their concert performances. CRAVITY, LIGHTSUM, STAYC, and TO1 are scheduled to participate in KCON Rookies. For those who can’t make it to the KCON Rookies event, there are specific artist engagement sessions that will give fans a chance to meet their favorite performers in a more intimate setting filled with games, Q&As, and a hi-touch session.
In addition to the concerts and performances, KCON LA 2022 will be returning with the same convention programs. These include panels, dance workshops, and an entertainment hall to explore Korean beauty brands, food, and other vendors. With less than a month to go, the program schedule has yet to be updated. The main page and the KCON social media accounts have been promoting the concert and performance events, but the schedule is expected to be posted closer the event.
The concert on Day 1 (August 20) will feature ATEEZ, CRAVITY, ENHYPEN, INI, ITZY, Kep1er, LIGHTSUM, and Stray Kids. Day 2 (August 21) will showcase K-pop acts JO1, LOONA, NCT Dream, NMIXX, P1Harmony, STAYC, The Boyz, TO1, and Cosmic Girls. According to the AXS purchase page, the Prestige tier tickets—which are priced at $1,900—are sold out for both August 20 and 21.
