This summer, K-indie band Hyukoh will be returning to the States for their third North America tour! The four-member band will be visiting 15 cities to greet their fans since their last tour in 2018. Kicking the tour off on May 29th, the group will start in the midwest in Texas, make their way east to New York, and complete their tour by heading back west to California.
Hyukoh debuted originally as a one-man band consisting of frontman Oh Hyuk, but soon bassist Im Donggeon, guitarist Lim Hyunjae, and drummer Lee Inwoo joined him to complete the band. They debuted in 2014 with their EP “20” and gained good traction in South Korea’s indie music scene. Although the band did see success from selling out smaller venues and performing in the streets of Hongdae, they didn’t dive into the mainstream until 2015, when the group appeared on the variety show Infinite Challenge.
From there, the group began to chart on Billboard’s World Albums Chart, signed to YG Entertainment subsidiary label HIGHGRND (although they did later leave the label and sign to DRDR Artist Company), and began to play shows throughout Asia. Their first studio album “23” came out in 2017, and the title track “Tomboy” placed first and second on several Korean streaming sites. The album also placed high on Billboard’s charts, and the band went on their first world tour shortly afterwards. Hyukoh’s latest album “24” was released in May 2018, and the band has said they plan to release new music prior to the upcoming tour.
